MBA with Engineering Degree, Project Management Specialist
Hugo Sager has more than 25 years of experience in development cooperation and conducting projects in different cultures. As a young engineer he already travelled the world and consulted clients in Asia, Africa and Europe. For eight years he lived abroad and worked in the field as technical expert and project leader. His focus interests are in the field of project management, institutional and capacity development. For more than 5 years Hugo Sager is working as an independent consultant. His mandates include project design, project management coaching and mentoring, fact finding and feasibility studies, evaluations and moderation. The logical framework approach (LFA) and the project cycle management (PCM) tools build a solid foundation of his work. He is applying a practice oriented approach, emphasising a comprehensive view of interventions and the involvement of all main stakeholders. His education as a mechanical engineer (NTB, Buchs, 1987) was the basis to start in1992 his work in development cooperation as a project expert in the Indonesia. After several expert assignments as an independent consultant, he was 1997 appointed as project leader of the Clean Air Project, Jakarta. In 2000 Hugo Sager became the initiator and Chairman of the international conference for sustainable transportation and clean air in Jakarta. Following his return to Switzerland, he enrolled at the University of St. Gallen to make his MBA in the fields of media and communication. As a consultant he has since worked with different collaborators in Eastern Europe and Asia. In 2005 he received the mandate as a lecturer for project design and management at the Teacher Training University of Central Switzerland (PHZ) and was appointed into the expert pool of Swiss Solidarity. Hugo Sager has mainly mandates from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), but also works on assignments for other organisations such as the Institute for International Cooperation in Education in Zug and Swisscontact in Zurich. He has built a good network with national and international consultants and has strategic partnerships with several institutions. |
