Assistance to the District Roads Support Programme in Nepal

The purpose of the District Roads Support Programme (DRSP) is to improve living standards in six districts of Nepal by improving the quality and availability of transport at district and village level. DRSP endeavours to achieve this goal by improving road and trail management and technical capacity within selected districts. It contributes to policy development at district and central level so as to support improved management and operations.

The DRSP promotes labour-based technology, the use of local resources, environmentally friendly work methods and low-cost solutions. It aims to develop capacity at all levels within the participating districts, e.g. District Development Committees, Village Development Committees, line agencies, user committees, community work groups, NGOs, contractors and consultants. Through its work, it promotes poverty alleviation and integrates gender aspects.

As an associated partner, Skat provides programme support in the fields of programme formulation, strategic planning (master plans), social mobilisation, concepts and norms.
